คีย์วิชวลAnime Fool Night แสดงตัวละครหลักยืนใต้ท้องฟ้าสีดำ

Netflix’s anime series Fool Night is set to stream exclusively worldwide on November 26, 2026, with all episodes dropping simultaneously. The production has unveiled a new key visual and main promotional video, confirmed its theme song artists, and announced five additional cast members.

About the Series

Fool Night is based on the manga by Yasuda Kasumi, currently serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior. Set in a bleak future world where humanity survives through a technology called “Tenka” (転花) — a process that implants seeds into the bodies of the dying and transforms them into plants — the story follows Kamiya Toshiro, a young man stripped of hope by poverty, who chooses to become a “Reika” (霊花), a plant born from a human being. The series marks the first-ever collaboration between two of Japan’s most celebrated animation studios: Sunrise, known for the Gundam franchise and Cowboy Bebop, and Shaft, the studio behind Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the Monogatari series. Yukawa Atsuyuki directs.

Key Visual & Main PV

The newly released key visual depicts Toshiro, Yomiko, Akira, Kano, and Jin standing beneath a sky smothered in dark, churning clouds, each bearing a distinct expression that hints at their inner turmoil. Black shadows creep at their feet, while the imposing “Tenka Institute” looms in the background as if watching over their fates.

The main PV opens with a detached narration from Horai Yomiko explaining the Tenka technology. It goes on to show riots staged by anti-Tenka factions, a speech by Higasa Ken — secretary-general of the Eijitsu Party — and the first full reveal of the mysterious vine-covered antagonist Ivy, alongside glimpses of intense battle sequences. The footage is set to the opening theme by Tempalay, showcasing the high-quality animation produced by the Sunrise × Shaft partnership.

Theme Songs

The opening theme is “Shake! spit out” by Tempalay. The band drew inspiration from a Shakespearean passage quoted at the start of the series, crafting a psychedelic track that expresses a desperate thirst for life, contradiction, and escapism within the world of Fool Night.

The ending theme is “息” (Iki / Breath) by Nowlu. In contrast to the opening, it is a powerful rock number that mirrors the inner struggles of Toshiro and the other characters. Nowlu described the song as both Toshiro’s cry and her own, noting that the anguish and anger she was experiencing while writing the lyrics aligned uncannily with the themes of the series.

Additional Cast

Joining the previously announced main cast — Uchiyama Koki (Toshiro), Kotobuki Minako (Yomiko), Enoki Junya (Akira), Endo Aya (Kano), and Mizuuchi Kiyomitsu (Jin) — are five new voice actors:

  • Wakayama Shion as Matsuno Sumi, a young pianist searching for her father who has become a Reika
  • Tsuchida Dai as Higasa Ken, secretary-general of the Eijitsu Party and a leading anti-Tenka figure
  • Okamoto Nobuhiko as Nishi, who conspires alongside Higasa to abolish the Tenka system
  • Senbongi Sayaka as Okumura Megu, a middle-school student who joins anti-Tenka protests with her father
  • Kobayashi Yumiko as Ivy, a mysterious vine-covered figure connected to a series of murders

Street Tenka Piano Exhibition

A special tie-in event, the “Street Tenka Piano Exhibition,” will be held for three days from November 27–29, 2026 (11:00–21:00) at the Tokyo Midtown B1F Atrium in Roppongi. The exhibition will feature art installations by contemporary floral artist Ozono Ayaho, inspired by the world of Fool Night, as well as a street piano buried in plants — evoking a poignant early scene in the story. The piano will be playable by anyone during the event period, and limited-edition original stickers will also be distributed. Note that a brief interruption is planned on November 27 from around 14:30.
