To mark “いいおっさんの日” (Ii Ossan no Hi) — a Japanese observance on November 3 celebrating cool middle-aged men — the official team behind the upcoming TV anime Arafo Kenja no Isekai Seikatsu Nikki (Arafourties Sage’s Otherworld Life Diary) has unveiled a newly drawn commemorative illustration.
The artwork depicts the series’ protagonist in his sage form, Zeros Merlin, casually smoking a cigarette — a fitting image for the occasion. Alongside the visual, the official X (formerly Twitter) account also released a series of “Arafo Aruaru Voice” clips: four short audio pieces capturing relatable moments of life in one’s late thirties and forties, posted across the day in morning, afternoon, evening, and night slots.
About the Anime
The story follows a protagonist who awakens in an alternate world that closely resembles a game he once played, inheriting the status of the great sage Zeros. He then navigates this new life while guiding and mentoring his disciples.
The TV anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in January 2027, with Tomokazu Sugita (杉田智和) voicing Zeros Merlin.
