Kodansha has given fans an early look at the back cover of Weekly Shonen Magazine‘s combined issue 36·37, set to go on sale on August 5. The cover spotlights two cast members from the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock, the manga series created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura.
Appearing on the back cover are K (of &TEAM), who plays Nagi Seishiro, and Tsuna Keio (綱啓永), who plays Mikage Reo. The special cover feature was put together to commemorate the theatrical release of the film.
A First in Weekly Shonen Magazine History
The issue is also notable for being the first ever “double cover” in the magazine’s history. The front cover features four additional cast members:
- Fumiya Takahashi (高橋文哉) — as Isagi Yoichi
- Kaito Sakurai (櫻井海音) — as Bachira Meguru
- Kyohei Takahashi (高橋恭平) — as Chigiri Hyoma
- Kota Nomura (野村康太) — as Kunigami Rensuke
Alongside the cover reveal, a solo gravure photo spread of Fumiya Takahashi was also released, generating considerable buzz among fans of both the manga and the upcoming film.
