A TV anime adaptation of Destiny Unchain Online ~吸血鬼少女となって、やがて『赤の魔王』と呼ばれるようになりました~ (Destiny Unchain Online: I Became a Vampire Girl and Eventually Came to Be Called the “Crimson Demon Lord”) has been officially announced. An official X (Twitter) account for the project has also launched.

Story

The series follows Kurim Mitsuki, a middle-school student with godlike gaming skills who goes by the in-game alias “Headhunter Kurim.” When his father — the developer of a full-dive VR game called Destiny Unchain Online — asks him to test a new device, Kurim agrees. Things go sideways immediately: the game is riddled with bugs, and Kurim finds himself locked into playing as a vampire girl for three months with no way to log out. To make matters worse, a glitch drops him in the middle of a remote forest with nothing to his name. His chaotic adventure begins from there.

About the Work

The story originates as a novel by resn, which Yachimoto adapted into manga with their own artwork. The manga runs serialized in Magazine Pocket (Magapoke). Volume 13, the latest installment, went on sale today. The first volume was published by Kodansha on September 8, 2022.

Comment from resn

“I’m truly happy that the day of the anime announcement for ‘DUO’ has finally arrived. The fact that we’ve made it this far is entirely thanks to the efforts of Yachimoto-sensei, who handled both the manga adaptation and the illustrations, as well as everyone else involved. I’d like to first offer my congratulations along with my gratitude. My deepest thanks also go to the readers who have supported us. I hope this becomes an opportunity for ‘DUO’ to reach an even wider audience.”

Yachimoto also contributed a celebratory illustration to mark the announcement.
