About the Series

The anime premieres on July 5, 2026, broadcasting on ABCテレビ, TOKYO MX, テレビ愛知, and BS11, with a worldwide exclusive stream on Netflix.

Laughter at World Premieres

Director Ota, who attended the World Premiere in London, recalled that audiences praised the show’s “physical comedy.” Uchida, who attended the World Premiere in Thailand, noted that laughter broke out throughout the screening. “The biggest reaction was at the end of episode 1 — even during recording we were shocked,” he said, sharing a knowing look with Amemiya.

Kihachi’s Expressive Faces Born from Storyboarding Instinct

In the scene where Kihachi meets Ineko at a shrine in episode 1, Ineko recites a Shinto prayer (norito). Amemiya said she “put everything into it” to convey Ineko’s familiarity with the ritual and her devout nature. When asked about the origin of Kihachi’s distinctive expressions, Director Ota explained: “He’s not goofing around — those faces come from living life seriously. They just naturally emerged as I drew the storyboards.” Uchida added that he was directed not to exaggerate his performance to match the visuals, instead focusing on the character’s emotional flow in each moment.

“One Viewing Isn’t Enough” — The Dynamism of Episode 2

Episode 2 is packed with energetic comedic sequences. Director Ota said the goal was to introduce characters, action, and the concept of the “Mokuroku” without letting the episode feel like a dry exposition dump. Uchida called on fans to rewatch: “The backgrounds and machinery move with such dynamism that you can’t take it all in at once — please come back and watch it again.”

One action scene required Kihachi and Ineko’s voices to overlap, so Uchida and Amemiya recorded simultaneously. Amemiya explained: “Overlapping lines are usually recorded separately, but the director said, ‘This time we sink together!’ Recording at the same time gave us a real sense of tension and energy.”

Both leads were also struck by the depiction of the “electric full moon” in episode 3. Director Ota revealed: “The art uses an oil-painting brushstroke style, which doesn’t mesh well with digital processing, so we went with a painterly approach to lighting instead.”

The “Future Electric Products” Segment

A highlight of the event was a corner where all three guests pitched their own imaginary “electric products of the future,” illustrated on flip boards.

  • Yuma Uchida proposed a “personal AI interface” capable of real-time translation, fortune-telling, and highway traffic updates — only for Amemiya to quip, “Alexa already does that,” leaving Uchida to realize his dream had quietly come true.
  • Sora Amemiya, who said she wants to do nothing when she gets home, pitched a “fully automated health-management house.”
  • Director Ota, who described himself as shy, proposed a “needle that gives you the courage to communicate.”

New Key Visual and Closing Remarks

The event also unveiled Key Visual #3, featuring the cast in a variety of expressions. Director Ota encouraged fans: “There’s a lot of hidden information in it — finish the series and then come back to this image.” Amemiya closed by saying she loves the human drama that unfolds later in the story and urged fans to look forward to it, while Uchida said the series’ power kept him eager to know what happens next even during recording, and expressed his hope that audiences will grow to love Kihachi and his companions.
