The official website for Yaiba: Samurai Legend (Japanese title: Shin Samurai-den YAIBA), the anime adaptation of Gōshō Aoyama‘s manga — the creator behind Detective Conan — has unveiled a new key visual and announced the premiere date for the anime’s second season.
Premiere Date and Broadcast Details
Season 2 will debut on January 9, 2027, airing on YTV, NTV, and their affiliated stations every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. JST — the same timeslot as the first season, immediately preceding Detective Conan’s 6:00 p.m. slot as part of the “Gōshō Aoyama Hour” programming block.
Internationally, the series streams on Netflix in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand, and on Hulu in the United States.

Production returns to Wit Studio with animation cooperation from Studio Kurm. The majority of the core team is back:

Story
Yaiba Kurogane has spent his life training deep in the jungle, driven by a single ambition: to become a true samurai. Fate brings him back to Japan, where he moves in with the Mine family — acquaintances of his father, Kenjuro. His wild, reckless nature constantly baffles the Mines’ daughter, Sayaka.
When Yaiba follows Sayaka to school one day, he has a fateful encounter with Takeshi Onimaru, a formidable kendo prodigy. Their repeated clashes seem to awaken two ancient forces: the Fujinken, the Wind God’s Sword, and the Raijinken, the Thunder God’s Sword. These supernatural blades, dormant since antiquity, have reawakened — and the truth behind them is about to be revealed.
Background
Gōshō Aoyama’s original manga ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 1988 to December 1993, spanning 24 compiled volumes. A 52-episode anime adaptation previously aired from April 1993 to April 1994.
The current anime’s first season launched in April 2025, with its second cours beginning in June 2025. Viz Media holds the license for both the anime and the English-language manga release.
