Fans of the anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) have new Halloween-themed merchandise to look forward to, going on sale Saturday, 14 November 2026. Alongside the product launch, Animate stores nationwide and Animate’s online shop will host the special event “Anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Halloween Fair 2026: Mahōtsukai-tachi no Halloween Night in Animate” on the same date.
About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is based on the light novel series by Hinata Natsu, published under Imagica Infos’ Hero Bunko imprint. The story follows Maomao, a young apothecary serving as a food taster in the imperial court, who uses her knowledge of medicine and poisons to solve a series of mysteries. The series blends genuine mystery, human drama, and an exotic historical setting that has resonated widely with readers and viewers alike.
The TV anime’s first season aired from October 2023 to March 2024, followed by a second season from January to July 2025. Season 3 began airing in October 2026, shifting the story’s stage from the imperial palace to the wider city. The franchise’s first theatrical film, Gekijōban Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bōhi no Hihō, based on an original story conceived by author Hinata Natsu, is set to open on 11 December 2026.
New Halloween Goods
The new merchandise features Halloween-costume illustrations of six characters: Maomao, Zhào Yū (趙迂), Jinshi, Mǎ Shǎn (馬閃), Luō Bàn (羅半), and Lù Sūn (陸孫). The lineup includes:
- Acrylic Stands — showcasing each character’s full Halloween outfit
- Character Badge Selection — wearable pins for bags and accessories
- Acrylic Art Panels — pair designs featuring Maomao & Zhào Yū, Jinshi & Mǎ Shǎn, and Luō Bàn & Lù Sūn
- Pouch — featuring a cute deformed chibi design
Animate Fair Details
From 14 to 29 November 2026, Animate stores nationwide and the Animate online shop will run the Halloween fair. Customers who purchase or pre-order Kusuriya no Hitorigoto-related products worth at least 1,100 yen (tax included) per qualifying transaction will receive one Visual Card (6 designs in total) as a bonus gift. Designs cannot be chosen.
The fair also extends to Animate Gratte café locations — including Animate-dori, Ikebukuro, Akihabara ANNEX, Shibuya, Kichijoji Parco, Yokohama Vivre, Sendai, Nagoya, Osaka Nipponbashi, Umeda, Okayama, and Lachic Fukuoka Tenjin — running through 10 December 2026. The Gratte menu for the fair includes:
- Gratte drinks (12 designs) — eat-in 715 yen / takeout 702 yen (tax included)
- Icing Cookies (12 designs) — eat-in 715 yen / takeout 702 yen (tax included)
- Paid bonus item — add 500 yen (tax included) per menu order to purchase one Trading Acrylic Coaster (12 designs total; design cannot be selected)
Season 3 Blu-ray Limited Editions
The Season 3 Blu-ray first-press limited editions are scheduled for release as follows, priced at 15,400 yen each (tax included):
- Volume 1 — 17 February 2027
- Volume 2 — 21 April 2027
- Volume 3 — 18 August 2027
- Volume 4 — 20 October 2027
Animate purchasers receive a mini photo with each volume: a drawn mini-character image (Maomao & Jinshi) with Vol. 1; a newly drawn illustration (Maomao) with Vol. 2; a newly drawn illustration (Jinshi) with Vol. 3; and a newly drawn illustration (Maomao & Jinshi) with Vol. 4. Customers who purchase all four volumes at Animate will also receive a newly drawn full-series storage box, a newly drawn gradient glass, and a mini photo holder.
Animate-exclusive sets are also available: the Volume 2 Animate Limited Set (17,600 yen) includes a set of two mini rotating acrylic stands, while the Volume 4 Animate Limited Set (18,480 yen) includes a newly drawn A5 acrylic panel.
