The second-week stage greeting for Yamato yo Towa ni REBEL3199 Chapter 7: Nijiiro no Rinne took place at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo on November 8, following a screening of the film. Taking the stage were Hatanaka Yu (Domon Ryusuke), Uemura Yuto (Ageha Takeshi), Muranaka Sato (Kyotsuka Miyako), Okamoto Nobuhiko (Tokugawa Taisuke), Hatano Wataru (Bando Heiji), Ito Kento (Sakamoto Shigeru), and Morinaga Chisai (Caroline Raiden). Toriumi Kosuke, who voices instructor Kitano Seiya, served as MC.
About Yamato yo Towa ni REBEL3199
Yamato yo Towa ni REBEL3199 is the latest entry in the Uchuu Senkan Yamato remake series. It reimagines the 1980 theatrical film of the same name across seven chapters and 26 episodes. The cast members who appeared at this event all play the “classmate” group of rookie crew members who were first introduced in Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi.
Memories of “2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi”
The event opened with a look back at “2205,” which was released in two parts in 2021–2022. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, recording sessions were held separately, meaning the cast rarely met in person. Everyone appeared delighted to finally be together in the same room.
Okamoto Nobuhiko revealed that director Yasuda Kenji instructed him to play Taisuke as a mood-maker — “someone with the warmth of the sun, even though everyone is carrying something heavy.” He kept that warmth in mind even during comedic scenes. He also mentioned starring in the in-universe science-explainer video series Kyou no Kagaku Beginners, saying the back-and-forth with the other cast members was a lot of fun.
Toriumi Kosuke’s First Recording Day Surprise
Toriumi, who joined the franchise with REBEL3199, shared an anecdote from his very first recording session. The director pulled him aside to a corner of the studio lobby. “He’s a big guy, so I was a little scared about what was coming,” Toriumi laughed. “But he just told me, ‘Kitano is going to betray everyone.'” He had known his character’s true nature before a single line was recorded.
Reactions to Chapter 7: Nijiiro no Rinne
Morinaga Chisai described her emotional experience watching the chapter: “My feelings were all over the place. I empathised so deeply with Sasha that it was painful, and I still can’t decide whether it counts as a happy ending.” Ito Kento added from the perspective of a character on the “betraying” side: “It’s really just about where each person places their own sense of justice — they’re not truly betraying anyone. You can watch it from so many angles, and it just wrecks you emotionally.”
Muranaka Sato said she had only seen it the previous Friday, and while she was shocked and disappointed by Kosaka’s transformation, the rapid-fire twists that followed made her burst out laughing involuntarily. Uemura Yuto highlighted the scene where Ageha spurs Lambel on, saying, “Even though Ageha came across as aloof at first, he passionately conveyed what it means to be human, and that’s what made Lambel commit. Lambel got a lot of praise at the advance screening for industry people — and it was me who drew that out of him!” he said proudly.
Hatanaka Yu: Tears So Heavy His Contacts Fell Out
Hatanaka Yu, who had come straight from a late-night radio recording to catch the morning screening, spoke with great emotion: “The more I watched everyone who had been deceived ultimately choose to give their lives for someone else, or choose to live by their own will, the more it hurt. I felt the ‘straight pitch of love’ that Yamato has always thrown, unchanged since the very beginning — and I couldn’t stop crying. My contact lenses actually fell out.”
Hatano Wataru said he was deeply moved by Mother Desarium’s line about being born to help humanity, and recalled watching reruns of the original series on satellite TV as a child. The line “No — it’s love” has stayed with him ever since.
